I used to collect video prompts like screenshots. That was fun and useless. What actually improved my generations was writing down why a prompt worked. Video models do not need adjectives as much as they need time, motion, and a camera that knows where it is. So this is a working set, organized by the problem it solves.

Nature and landscapes

  1. Aerial drone shot soaring over misty mountain peaks at golden sunrise, clouds drifting between valleys, cinematic wide angle
  2. Ocean waves crashing against rocky cliffs, sea spray catching sunlight, slow motion, camera tilting upward to reveal a dramatic sky
  3. Dense tropical rainforest with sunlight filtering through the canopy, butterflies fluttering, camera slowly tracking forward
  4. Desert sand dunes at blue hour, wind creating rippling patterns across the sand, stars emerging in the sky above
  5. Northern lights dancing across an arctic sky, reflected in a still glacial lake, camera slowly panning upward
  6. Cherry blossom petals falling in slow motion in a Japanese garden, gentle breeze, soft pink light
  7. Volcanic eruption at night, lava flowing down the mountainside, sparks flying, camera at a safe distance
  8. Underwater coral reef teeming with colorful fish, sunlight rays piercing through the water surface, gentle floating motion

The cliff prompt works because the wave collision happens early. If the first second is only a static ocean, viewers scroll. For cloud scenes I add a rate, clouds drift slowly, not just clouds move. Rate words prevent the model from turning a calm scene into weather chaos.

Product and commerce prompts

Product video prompts need controlled motion. I keep one subject action and one camera action, then stop.

A frosted glass skincare bottle rotating 180 degrees on a light gray pedestal, soft studio lighting from upper left, subtle contact shadow, slow orbital camera, clean e-commerce product video
A pair of white sneakers on wet concrete, light rain falling, shallow puddle reflections, camera pushes in from low angle, urban evening light, energetic social video

The first one is for marketplaces and brand pages. The second one is for TikTok or Reels where motion matters more than sterile symmetry.

Urban and City Scenes

  1. Neon-lit cyberpunk city street at night, rain reflecting colorful lights, flying cars passing overhead, camera tracking forward
  2. Time-lapse of a bustling city intersection, light trails from traffic, day transitioning to night
  3. Rooftop view of Tokyo at sunset, city lights gradually turning on, camera slowly rotating 360 degrees
  4. Vintage 1950s American diner, jukebox playing, milkshake with a cherry on top, camera pushing in slowly
  5. Foggy London street at dawn, Victorian gas lamps flickering, a figure with an umbrella walking away
  6. Modern minimalist office space, sunlight streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows, plants swaying gently

Character and Portrait

  1. Close-up of a woman's face, wind blowing her hair, golden hour sunlight, slow motion, shallow depth of field
  2. A musician playing piano in a dimly lit room, dust particles floating in a beam of light, emotional atmosphere
  3. A child running through a field of sunflowers, laughing, camera tracking alongside, warm summer light
  4. An elderly craftsman working with his hands on a wooden sculpture, sawdust falling, focused and contemplative
  5. A dancer performing contemporary dance in an empty warehouse, dramatic side lighting, fluid slow motion

Faces are the easiest place to overprompt. Give one expression change and one camera move. For example, subject slowly turns head and smiles, medium shot, shallow depth of field. Do not add six emotions; you will get uncanny results.

How I test prompts now

  1. Write the first two seconds first.
  2. Choose one subject action and one camera action.
  3. Name the light source.
  4. Run three variations with free or low-cost models.
  5. Move only the winning prompt to Seedance 2.5, Kling v3 Omni, or Veo 3.1.

This is not romantic. It saves credits.

FAQ

Q: What is the most important part of a video prompt?

A: Motion. Say what changes over time, how fast it changes, and where the camera is. A beautiful subject with unclear motion still produces a bad clip.

Q: Which models should I use for final output?

A: Seedance 2.5 at 18 credits per second for 480p or 39 for 720p, Kling v3 Omni at 39 credits per second, and Veo 3.1 at 80 credits for 4 seconds. Choose by duration, audio, and resolution.

Q: Should I generate many variations?

A: Test cheaply, then generate one or two finals. A good prompt is cheaper than five expensive random rolls.
